Fun Things To Do On the Web #4 – Spotify

I literally can’t believe it’s taken me this long to discover Spotify (or to update this blog for that matter!). Spotify is quite frankly an incredible program and one that every computer should have installed on it!

For those of you who don’t know, Spotify is a program which streams music Peer-To-Peer (P2P). There are many service on the market that does this, however Spotify has the biggest legal library of any I have ever found.

All you have to do, is download the program from Spotify.com and then find the music you like. The player is very similar to iTunes and allows you to create your own playlists full of tracks for you to listen to. If you don’t want to do that you can create your own radio station by selecting the genres you like and letting Spotify do all the work.

What sets Spotify apart from any other program like it, is the fact it allows you to listen to what you want, and in full (not just samples like other sites). It’s almost as if you have brought the songs!

There are only two notable limitations to Spotify, the first being that the songs can only be streamed for free, not downloaded. If you want to listen on your iPod, you’ll have to buy the track. The second problem is that if you choose the free option (premium ones are available) you’ll have to listen to 30 second adverts at certain intervals. But other than these two rather small issues, the software is great and streams at a speed I have never seen on the internet before.

Spotify is a must download for any music fan and blows 30 second previews out of the water! Get it now, completely free and legally (it really is legal, even the record labels agree!) from Spotify.com!
